FOREWORD
Mr. Lokesh J. is basically a Mechanical Engineer and a Post Graduate in Management. Presently he is a practicing human resources management expert, who has an extended interest of documenting his every day experience in handling business and human interest related issues in the industry. His exposure to academics and industry has instilled a desire to come out with a ready reckoner on Human Resource Management. This book is largely based on his hands-on experience as HR practitioner in the industry. It contains details about the evolution of HR Management covering concepts, theories and their impact on the present and future projections in the field of HR Management. Along with the theoretical analysis he has covered legal aspects of HR Management and practical case incidents which enables the readers to get a complete feel of the subject. Instead of taking the usual academic style of presenting elaborate textual explanations, he has applied a simple prescriptive approach in writing this book.
This book gives an introduction to HR profession and explain the roles to be played by HR managers in the fast changing knowledge based business organizations. He has given a complete application oriented explanations to HR policies, legal procedures and the competency based people and knowledge management initiatives. I am sure this book is going to be a routemap and ready reckoner for people concerned with both learning and practicing people management in the present globalised business environment.

I wish Mr. Lokesh J. to come out with more of this kind of work which will strengthen the tools kit of practioners, who have the responsibility of developing strong force of manpower to strengthern the Indian economy in general and industry in particular.
