Preface
'Success' is possibly what everyone is chasing in the world in every field - Students, corporate personnel, entrepreneurs, professionals, artists, scientists and, for that matter, every person in every field. Speakers have spoken tons of words and authors have written volumes on 'Success'.

'Success' is also the most-liked word since the society gauges a person based on the success he achieves in life . Success also brings with it a host of things which every human being is looking forward to: wealth, social/public visibility, pleasures/comforts of life, freedom to embark upon businesses philanthraphic activities etc.

'Success' can simply be defined as getting what we want i.e., achieving the set goals/targets. In spite of the fact that most people want to be successful, success is elusive for many of them. The scenario becomes more complex as we see different people achieving success by different methods, strategies, practices etc.

There appears to be no fixed, sure-shot formula for success. Each successful person attributes his success to different aspects and traits like positive attitude, opportunities, self motivation, hard work, focus on the goals, people management skills, leadership, creativity / innovation, 'being-there-at-the-right-time', soft skills (like communication skills, interpersonal skills, effective time management etc.) and some people, attribute success to luck and destiny.

In spite of the above myriad reasons for success, there appears to be a few general guidelines and rules for achieving success. This book precisely aims at providing these set of guidelines and rules for becoming successful in the professional life. Various attitudinal and behavioral skills needed for achieving success have been dealt with in this book. The book has been written in a modular fashion in a simple language supported by relevant pictures in a easy-to-understand format and layout. I have tried to crystallize in this book my two decades of professional experience and further two decades of my experience as a corporate trainer.

Whereas this book revolves around achieving success in professional life, my other book titled 'A celebration called life' deals with the personal/social life and yet another book titled 'Redefining husband and wife relationship' speaks about marital life. That's how I have tried to give to the readers a recipe encompassing different arenas of life enabling them lead a holistic, fruitful and rewarding life.

I am grateful to my wife, Rajani for the co-operation extended by her while writing this book. The support I received from my senior faculty, Ms. Padma Hemanth is simply unparalleled. Our faculty and our Operation Chief, Ms. Meghana Hanumesh, has put in great efforts in bringing out this book. It can safely be said that she is the chief architect in the production of this book. The sheer hard work put in by 'UNIQUE' team (Unique Consultants) - Ms. Sindhu and others in bringing out this book in the present form is laudable.

If this book provides the reader the effective and practical guidelines to achieve success in professional life, I feel that my efforts have been successful.
